Sharpen your observation and memory skills as the Museum's staff illustrates the forensic techniques utilized at real crime scenes. This program emphasizes the type of procedures NYPD detectives employ everyday, and provides you the opportunity to use some of the same critical thinking skills. Transform yourself from an innocent by-stander to a super sleuth.

Operation Safe Child
Wed.-Fri., Feb. 20-22, by appointment only
Police officers from the NYPD will be on hand to register your child in Operation SAFE CHILD. Through this national initiative, your child will be photographed, measured and fingerprinted. You will then receive a free identification card, and your child's information is placed in a national law enforcement directory. This crucial record helps police officers find and identify your child in the event of an emergency.

Suspense in the City mystery writer series

The Police Museum is happy to announce the return of its successful literary series, Suspense in the City. Jonathan Hayes and Harold Schecter are both experts in the field of criminology. Mr. Hayes, a pathologist, spent the last seventeen years as an NYC medical examiner, while Mr. Schecter, a professor at Queens College, studies the history of serial killers. The authors will discuss their new novels, and answer questions about the real crimes they have investigated.
