Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, Inc. Presents Three Travelers

New Federal Theatre, Inc., under the direction of Founder and Producing Director Woodie King, Jr., will begin previews of Richard Abron's comedy/drama, THREE TRAVELERS, at St. Clements Theatre (423 West 46th St.) Sunday, January 13, 2008. The official opening will be on Thursday, January 24, 2008. Jay Broad Directs.

In THREE TRAVELERS, three jaded western tourists (a corporate whiz, his uptight wife and their free-spirited British friend) search for answers to their discontent by seeking wisdom in India from a world-famous, deceptively irreverent Guru.

Richard Abron's Off-Broadway plays include WHOSE FAMILY VALUES! in 2003 EVERY DAY A VISITOR in 2001, and THE BROTHERS BERG in 1999. The published compilation of his short stories includes a story that won a National Magazine Fiction Award and another that was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. He is a Director and past President of the Henry Street Settlement and a director of The Council on the Environment of NYC.

Jay Broad has directed, written and produced for Broadway, off-Broadway and resident theatres throughout the country. He served as Artistic Director of PAF Playhouse on Long Island, producing over 20 world premieres. He was the Founder and Producing Director of Theatre Atlanta, the first major Repertory Theatre in the South. He has been a consultant for the National Endowment for the Arts and has taught at Yale, University of Southern California, University of Washington, Hofstra University, and Arizona State University.

The cast features Judith Lightfoot Clark, Kenneth Maharaj, Kathleen McNenny and Stephen Schnetzer.

Set Design is by Don Llewellyn, Costume Design is by Karen Perry, Lighting Design is by David F. Segal and Sound Design is by Sean O¹Halloran.

Woodie King, Jr. is the Founder and Producing Director of New Federal Theatre. (NFT) has presented over 200 productions in its 38-year history. Mr. King has produced and directed Off-Broadway, on Broadway in regional theatres, and in universities across the United States. He co-produced FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF, (first produced by New Federal Theatre and Joe Papp's Public Theatre) WHAT THE WINE SELLERS BUY, REGGAE AND THE TAKING OF MISS JANIE (Drama Critic Circle Award). His directional credits are extensive and include work in film as well as theater.

Performances of THREE TRAVELERS are Tuesday ­ Saturday at 8PM and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
