The Best Nightlife in the Meatpacking District

Meatpacking nightlife: It's funky. It's upscale. It's full of places to dine and dance the night away. Here are some of the spots competing for your attention, where locals and tourists from around the world mix and mingle to give you those vibes you can only get in NYC!

The Standard

Top of the Standard

Top of the Standard.

You could say the Meatpacking District revolves around The Standard and get no argument here. There are several late-night spots to hang at this renowned hotel overlooking the High Line. It's boisterous and definitely a place to be seen (make your reservations early), but you’ll understand why instantly. The ground floor features the Living Room, which operates 20 hours a day, and you'll find late-night snacks and tropical cocktails like a Sneaky Tiki here. Outside, there's the the Standard Biergarten where you can grab a German-themed round of brewskis on a year-round patio. There are also beer taps at their Stammtisch tables and table tennis for all. The Top Of The Standard is exactly what it sounds like: This exclusive venue with a view offers dinner, drinks and live jazz, whereas Le Bain is the true nightclub on site. Come summer, there’s a pool, but there's a always a party in progress here with world class deejays and an überhip clientele at this exclusive rooftop club. 848 Washington St., 212-645-4646, standardhotels.com

The Gansevoort

It doesn't get more swank than The Gansevoort. Join the classy lasses and lads at B on Top, the hotel's luxe rooftop nightclub. Enjoy sweeping views from every window and relax with craft cocktails at this see-and-be-seen spot. The Chester is the hotel’s French restaurant that does double duty as a nighttime lounge (until 11pm, at least). Or simply grab a glass of bubbly and a Burger Maison at this two-level venue on the hotel's ground floor before heading upstairs for further revels. 18 9th Ave., 212-206-6700, gansevoorthotelgroup.com

The Tippler

Tippler

Taste the formerly taboo below Chelsea Market at The Tippler, a Prohibition-themed bar with plenty of innovative cocktails to sample. This popular subterranean spot serves memorable drinks for the millennial set, like a banana daiquiri called “thank u, next” and The Crown Juul, which is bourbon with an absinthe splash. Available snacks include a grilled PB&J sandwich and cheese dip with Ritz crackers. The site says weekend lines start at 10pm, FYI. 425 W. 15th St. 917-261-7949, thetippler.com

Corkbuzz

Corkbuzz

Corkbuzz is not a spot with a dance floor, but where you linger over a great bottle and get deep into the vibe. The Chelsea Market location of the popular wine bar boasts an impressive wine list for all palates (selected by Master Sommelier Laura Maniec). Pair that with a flight of cheeses, charcuterie, or other nibbles at this modern oenophile’s paradise. 75 9th Ave., 646-237-4847, corkbuzz.com/location/chelsea-market

Common Ground

It's what we know today as eminently Instagrammable. At Common Ground, you'll find endless pics of the ivy-bedecked skylight inside. This casual club south of The Gansevoort is packed every weekend, attracting those drawn by pitchers of margs, sangrias, and Moscow Mules. Spiked coffees and a Baked Pumpkin Old Fashioned are also on the menu, and there’s a vine-covered tunnel for selfies galore. Tacos and the like are provided by Gordo’s Cantina. 63 Gansevoort St., 212-255-7484, commongroundbar.com

Brass Monkey

Brass Monkey

This may indeed be “the destination at the very end of the street” as the Brass Monkey website claims. That title has remained consistent for years, and why not? This casual hangout has proven a destination unto itself. The bar consists of little more than three rooms and a rooftop where you can enjoy a local beer, a glass of sustainable Sancerre, or a Get Crooked cocktail. Filling bar snacks like nachos and cheeseburger sliders are also available. 55 Little West 12th St., 917-765-6746, brassmonkeynyc.com
