The Harlem Sessions hosted by Marc Cary
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
The Harlem Sessions began in 2015 as a performance jam session concept led by Harlem based artist and composer, Marc Cary. Recognizing that much of the innovation of jazz and ground broken came from the late-night jams and shed sessions in Harlem, Marc was inspired to reinvigorate this tradition. The Session focuses on a musical menu – a repertoire less travelled, to highlight some beloved composers and lyricists. Marc also wanted to cultivate an ensemble approach to building new arrangements in front of an audience, rather than a place where everyone was a soloist, while keeping the performance at a premium. The session runs weekly at Smoke Jazz Club!
Venue: Smoke Jazz and Supper Club
