New York City Dining - Mars 2112

Set just below street level a few blocks from Times Square, Mars 2112 offers a fun-filled environment perfect for children as well as adults. Upon entering the restaurant, you certainly feel as though you’ve left Earth and traveled to another galaxy entirely. After a ride in a rocket ship and a walk through some Martian tunnels, you arrive in the “Crystal Crater,” an impressive room that resembles a Martian cave and serves as the main dining room. The rock walls and views of outer space certainly add to the extraterrestial vibe -- and if you’re lucky, you may even get to meet an alien or two.

While Mars 2112 may look like a set from a science fiction movie, the food is certainly a little more earthly. Their menu has a wide range of offerings, from basic meals for kids like chicken tenders and burgers, to fish and steak entrees for the adults. And at prices that aren't "out of this world," Mars 2112’s menu will certainly satisfy a large family at a reasonable cost.

But Mars 2112 isn't just a restaurant with an extraterrestrial vibe; it also has a unique bar area that looks like something out of Star Trek and offers signature Martian drinks. A walk through some more Martian tunnels leads you to the arcade room, with numerous games that will keep kids of all ages entertained for hours. All these amenities make Mars 2112 an excellent venue capable of hosting various events, such as children’s parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, and even corporate events.

Located at 51st Street and Broadway, Mars 2112 offers a unique and fun experience for the whole family. There is a two-dollars-per-person cover charge, but the small fee is well worth it for the otherworldly experience. -- Perry Martin
