David Bryan and Friends
View Website |
"The year was 1986; I was a mere 14 years old... And at that moment - one which I shall never forget - I heard the song 'Good Lovin,' a cover version from the Grateful Dead's album 'Shakedown Street'. I recognized the song but had never heard this version before... I was hooked instantly." David Bryan & Friends is a musical group led by Bryan's musical interpretation of the life, art, music, and philosophy of Jerry Garcia. The band originated in June of 2014, when Bryan successfully petitioned St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue in NYC (a national historic landmark) to host a one-of-a-kind concert entitled, "Songs to fill the air: A Memorial Concert to Celebrate the Life of Jerry Garcia." This was followed soon after with an appearance at the popular all-day festival, "Grateful Fest" out on Long Island. After a couple of years playing in the NYC club/bar scene, the band then put on a historic concert by being the first ever Dead cover band to play in an actual subterranean gothic crypt (at Church of the Intercession in Harlem, NYC.) More unique venues are in the works for 2019, including a national historic landmark synagogue, and a Unitarian Church on Central Park West.
